PURPOSE OF THE POSITION - Course Marshals are positioned on designated areas along the course to help ensure the course is safe for the walkers. This is done by providing directions and assistance to the participants and notifying your Sector Leader of any hazards or incidents you may see. The course is divided into two Sector, each with its own Sector Leader, who will be your supervisor on the day. Each Sector Leader holds a radio and has direct contact with the Event Operations Centre.
Your role as course marshal involves, but is not limited to:
Directing athletes on the course
Securing the course by monitoring barricade/tape and equipment placement
Assisting in obtaining transport and/or medical assistance for any athletes who withdraws from competition via your sector leader or the Event Operations Centre (EOC)
Be alert to report any situation that has the potential to cause interruptions to event
We also have limited availability for village volunteers to assist in volunteer check in, merchandise and registration tents
You will be provided with an event T-shirt course Marshal shifts commence from 8:30am- 1:00pm Village shifts from 7:30am- 11:00am
• You are the face of the event for many participants. Please be friendly and approachable. • You are a special team of people who are involved in a fantastic event that raises vital funds to provide research, education and support for the people living with Parkinson’s to improve quality of life. • Make sure that you soak up the atmosphere on the day and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
