Family Planning Australia – Volunteer Consumer Representatives

Expressions of Interest

Location: Newington/Penrith/Fairfield/Newcastle/Dubbo/Remote friendly

Are you open minded, motivated and passionate about improving the reproductive and sexual health of people in your community? Are you interested in helping to shape the future of Family Planning Australia’s services and programs? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Family Planning Australia is the state’s leading provider of reproductive and sexual health services. We want to make sure that people in NSW have access to the services and information they need to have good reproductive and sexual health.

Family Planning Australia recognises that consumers are the experts of their own lived experience. That’s why we’re looking for volunteers to provide advice on how we can improve the reproductive and sexual health services and programs we provide to the community in NSW.

What does the role involve? Being a consumer representative will involve the following: • attending bi-monthly meetings (online or face-to-face from one of our centres) with our multidisciplinary team to discuss issues and brainstorm solutions • attending bi-annual meetings (online or face-to-face from one of our centres) with the Family Planning Australia Board to provide updates on experiences of consumers • reviewing meeting documents before each meeting • occasionally providing advice on matters in between meetings, for example, about new projects, resources or policies

We estimate that being a volunteer consumer representative will involve a few hours of your time each month.

Who are we looking for? Reproductive and sexual health is important for all people, so we want to hear from people 18 years and over from different genders, sexualities, cultural backgrounds, abilities and geographical locations. We want to hear from people who have used our services before, or who might use them in the future.

We particularly encourage people from the following groups to get in touch with us: • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people • people from different cultural backgrounds • people with disability • young people

Please note that a Working With Children's Check, Police Check and COVID-19 vaccination is required for this position.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
