Volunteer Historian

The Marketing, Communications and Events team supports Volunteering QLD's Engage strategy, which is responsible for shining a light on volunteering by promoting volunteerism, fostering opportunities for participation and partnerships and creating ways to achieve our priorities; to Connect, Communicate and Celebrate volunteering.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining historical data from libraries, archives, and interviews. • Determining the authenticity of historical data. • Determining the significance of historical data. • Creating a timeline of Volunteering Queensland's historical achievements. • Translating historical documents into a suitable language. • Researching the historical development of the sector in Queensland. • Uncovering artifacts and significant documents in museums or libraries. • Contributing to the development of a permanent record ie book. • Obtaining extensive information on historical figures for biographies. • Interviewing subject experts to gain a deeper understanding of historical events.

Selection criteria

• Experience in a research position. • Critical thinking ability and highly analytical mindset. • Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Exceptional written and verbal communication • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Good organizational skills • Interest in the nonprofit sector

DESIRABLE but not essential as we can provide support and training: • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite. • Experience using Microsoft Teams/Sharepoint for regular meetings
