Volunteer Pastoral Carers - Logan Region
Anglicare SQThe Role Our team based at Logan offer an array of services, including many that require volunteer support. To maintain these essential services, our Spiritual & Pastoral Care team are are seeking the support from volunteers who are good listeners and can provide spiritual and emotional support to our clients.
Skills & Qualities • Respect for others’ values and beliefs • Understanding of the spiritual and emotional needs of particular groups • Active participation in a Faith Community • Ability to listen well • Have recognised prior learning in pastoral care services • Willing to work as part of a team and access supervision and debriefing as required
Responsibilities • Visit allocated clients in their own homes to provide spiritual and pastoral care in response to the needs and concerns presented • Identify and refer complex spiritual needs to the Spiritual and Pastoral Care Coordinator • Carry out record keeping and reporting requirements
Mandatory Requirements • Volunteer Mandatory Training – must complete prior to starting first volunteer shift (online and face to face training modules) • National Police Certificate – undergo a national police check and we will coordinate and pay for this to be processed • Current Covid 19 vaccination evidence
Other Expectations • Availability – at least one shift (4 hours) per week between 8am and 3pm, Monday to Friday • Consistency and reliability – willing to commit to an ongoing basis • Confidentiality & Professional Boundaries– this is critical to us and you will need to sign a Statement of Agreement • Two (2) referees – who are not relatives and can verify your character and interaction in the community (ie. Work Colleague, Church Elder, Community Leader , Doctor or other Professional)
