The role

In this rewarding role you will be involved in the following, according to your interest and skills:

• Work collaboratively with the Volunteer Manager and members of the warehouse team
• Attend warehouse sessions 1/2 days week (ideally 10 am-12 pm on day/s of your choice)
• Meet, greet and induct new volunteers that have signed up for orientation
• Send welcome emails to new volunteers (templates provided)
• Update volunteer status across multiple platforms (Facebook/Salesforce)

You will have the opportunity to:

Desired skills:

• Extremely reliable and a good communicator
• Good computer skills (Word, Excel) and previous experience using shared drives (GoogleDrive or SharePoint)l. Database management experience, in particular SalesForce would be a bonus.
• Interest in HR, relevant qualifications, or previous experience in volunteer coordination are desirable
• A minimum commitment of at least 3 months is essential

Organisational background

Big Group Hug, based in Melbourne, is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organisation that supports vulnerable and disadvantaged families in need. We provide new and pre-loved goods to help these families care for their children, aged from newborn to 16-year-old. Our core belief is that all children deserve the best start in life, so for us, the child is the focus of everything we do. Our team is made up of over 300 individuals/volunteers who are determined and committed to assisting every family who asks for help. We receive requests for specific and essential items through Case Workers, Maternal and Child Health Nurses, or other professionals in the community.
