Volunteer West is advertising this position on behalf of Maidstone United Soccer Club

The Junior Coach is responsible for developing the player, their physical abilities, team skills and knowledge of the game while ensuring a positive, enjoyable experience is had by all participants.

Skills Required:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is positive and enthusiastic
  • Is empathetic and inclusive to players of all abilities
  • Basic to good understanding of the game and rules depending on the age group being managed
  • Coaching Accreditation to the relevant level or willingness to obtain through the support of the club
  • Willing to obtain a voluntary Working with Children Check (free of cost)

Time Required - The estimated time commitment required as the Junior Coach is up to 5 to 6 hours per week (Inc. training and match day - Training Tuesday & Thursday 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM & Game Sunday between 9AM - 12 AM in the western suburbs).

Location - Maidstone, with travel to away games

Commitment Required - The duration of the soccer season and preseason

Other requirements:

  • Progressively and sequentially develop each player’s technical skills and knowledge
  • Implement an effective coaching program in conjunction with the technical director and support of other coaches
  • Provide relevant training/game information to players and to parents where necessary
  • Ensure that all players receive a fair go with equal game time
  • Teach players about the importance of respect and responsibilities towards each other and match officials
  • Attend coaches meeting & club events when required
