Workshop Facilitator

MAN UP

We are currently accepting expressions of interest from individuals that identify as male and are between the ages of 18-25! As a volunteer, you will be a part of a dedicated volunteer base for a brand new charity helping to change the lives of young men.

What will I be doing?

Our volunteers travel to high schools around Perth in a team of like-minded individuals to deliver our 3 workshops; Male Culture, Male Relationships, and Male Coping. These workshops are presented in a small-group format of 1-2 facilitators to 8-10 young men.

What other opportunities do I have as a volunteer?

In 2023, MAN UP is set to run 6 rural trips across Western Australia. These trips, lasting between 2 and 7 days, are an opportunity for us to take our sessions to schools that would otherwise never have access to our workshops. In the past, we've travelled to destinations including Exmouth, Esperance, Bunbury, and Geraldton, with heaps of new super exciting trips planned this year! Not only are these trips a great way to refine your skills as a volunteer, they come with plenty of down-time where the volunteer group can relax and enjoy the sights and attractions. As a bonus, these trips are completely free of charge to our volunteers!.

We also put on a range of events, including our annual fun-filled quiz night and star-dazzling cocktail night. Volunteers, friends, and family come together to enjoy good food, good company, all for a great cause!

If you're looking to take on some extra responsibility, we have regular opportunity to step up and contribute more than the average volunteer. Opportunities include event sub-committees, fundraising teams, and of course applying for our 15-person general committee, who's efforts see to the daily running of MAN UP.

What experience do I need to volunteer?

Our volunteers come from all different backgrounds, with the majority of them being students. The only prior experience you need is to be male-identifying. Yep, that's it! We will train you in everything else, at your own pace, before you take the reigns and lead your own workshops.

What do I get out of volunteering with MAN UP?

A side effect that comes with helping others and being of service is meeting other like-minded individuals. The MAN UP Volunteer community is growing everyday. It is incredible to have a network of young men on the same mission be able to come together and share in their own challenges with no judgement. It truly is a safe space for us all, and most of our volunteers walk away feeling like they’ve done good, and helped make the world a slightly better place.

Our volunteers also have regular opportunities to enhance their professional capabilities and become qualified in a number of vital areas. Previous opportunities offered to our volunteers include ASIST training, Mental Health First Aid, and Family and Domestic Violence training.

If you have any questions, please send in an expression of interest and our team will get back to you as soon as they can. We are excited to have you on board as part of the team!

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
