What we're looking for

We’re looking for a people-person to help us liaise with organisations and individuals who want to donate us their unused medical supplies.

We get expressions of interest from a range of small, big, and huge medical organisations all over the world. They offer to donate every medical supply imaginable - from everyday consumables to specialist equipment and even high-tech devices. Every supply received by Medical Pantry comes through the incomings donations team. We determine what we can accept, coordinate the donation logistically, and keep the donor in the loop throughout the process.

You would be part of a team that guides and supports you, but you can work independently too.

The role can be done mostly remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring a shared email inbox for new expressions of interest to donate goods
  • Informing potential donors of the donation process, and answering questions they may have
  • Helping decide which products should be taken, based on demand from potential recipients
  • Tracking the progress of each expression of interest
  • Helping coordinate the logistics of the donation
  • Attending meetings with the rest of the incoming donations team

Skills and Attributes

  • Has a good command of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable in using the internet, emailing software, and basic databases.
  • Is organised and can follow processes.

Time commitment

  • 30 mins - 1 hour per day, and an additional 5 hrs on weekends

About Us

Medical Pantry is an Australian charity based in Port Melbourne. We deliver surplus medical supplies to underserved communities over all over the globe. We collect surplus stock from manufacturers, distributors and hospitals, saving them from going to landfills. In 2021, we donated 15,000 tonnes and helped tens of millions of people access medical care.

Our organisation is 100% volunteer run. We have a diverse background ranging from university students to retirees; engineers to health professionals. We are all about a world with equitable healthcare for all. We aim to improve the sustainability, and reduce the wastage of medical equipment and supplies in Australia. If you share these values, we would love for you to join us and contribute to this mission!
