About the role Our Social Enterprise Cleaning and Catering team employs more than 70 people seeking asylum and we are growing continuously. This role will support the team to provide training, education and employment pathways for our employees. We aim to support the enrollment into courses or training that will help our employees develop future career goals and aspirations in a field of their choosing.

Program The ASRC Social Enterprises exist to create pathways to sustainable employment and financial independence for people seeking asylum. The ASRC currently operates two social enterprises - ASRC Catering and ASRC Cleaning. These enterprises provide people seeking asylum and refugees with training and work experience to develop new skills and regain autonomy and purpose.

Our Social Enterprises are in an exciting period of increasing impact through business growth. By scaling existing enterprises and exploring new market opportunities we aim to create more jobs and employment pathway opportunities for people seeking asylum and refugees living in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate one-on-one appointments with employees from our Catering and Cleaning social enterprises
  • Assist employees to create a plan for reaching their employment goals
  • Assist employees to complete strengths based goal mapping
  • Provide tools in goal setting for career development
  • Record case note using CRM database
  • Research training and education providers
  • Provide any other support and information that employees need while preparing for their employment goals

Volunteer shifts We are looking for a commitment of 1 shift per week, for a minimum of 6 months. Shifts are available Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm

What we’re looking for

  • High level communication and approachability
  • Computer literacy
  • Problem solving and critical thinking necessary to find solutions and dynamic resources and services
  • History or understanding with Training Education and Employment (TEE) processes
  • History of people management is highly favourable
