If you’re interested in connecting with older people who are socially isolated, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for volunteers who are creative thinkers and committed to supporting people to live their best lives. Help older people with their goals around staying independent, healthy and connected to their community.

You may be interested in a connection with Henrietta, who describes herself as engaging, chatty and always up for a laugh. Henrietta spent many years travelling and teaching overseas and has a passion for language, history and the arts. Since retiring, Henrietta* has dedicated many hours to her community teaching English and supporting the local historical society.

Henrietta* feels that she has had a very full life and would love to document her experiences with the support of a volunteer.

Connecting with Henrietta* may involve visiting her at home, having a chat over the phone, meeting up for a coffee and/or supporting her to chronicle her memoir. Contact might involve checking out what’s on offer at a local neighbourhood centre, library, or an activity of interest.

We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. As a Uniting Volunteer you’ll be able to access our online learning library with over 200 courses on offer. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential. We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities.

If you are interested in more information about Volunteering in our Social Support Program, connecting to Henrietta or another older person in your area, please phone 13 93 75 and quote SS-GEN-BAL Name changed for privacy.
