St Joseph’s Workshop is a volunteer-based service that supports the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society by manufacturing a range of high quality furniture items that are provided to people who are experiencing hardship. The service operates from a well-equipped factory and provides opportunities for volunteers to use their skills and/or learn new skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

As a Workshop Volunteer, you be responsible for cutting, assembling, sanding and finishing chests of drawers, hanging racks and kids' tables and chairs.

To be successful in this role, you will need a healthy appreciation of volunteering and a willingness to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society. You must have the ability to work well within a team and be able to maintain areas so that they are clean & safe at all times.

Successful volunteers will receive in-house training specific to the role. This training will include ongoing support and mentoring from our Workshop Supervisor plus WHS Manual Handling training. Additional benefits to this role include working for an organisation that makes a difference to people in need, interacting with like-minded individuals and building friendships, all while giving back to the community.

We are ideally looking for volunteers who are able to start as soon as possible after all compliance requirements have been met. We understand that all of our volunteer situations are different and we welcome volunteers with varying availability. Ideally, volunteers would be able to stay with us for a minimum of 6 months and would be able to commit to a minimum of one shift a week, Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 12.30pm.
