Garden Activities Volunteer, Chermside - Residential Aged Care

Wesley Mission Queensland
Logo for Wesley Mission Queensland

Our Cooper House aged care community at Chermside is seeking a volunteer with a keen interest in plants and gardening to assist a small number of residents with simple garden activities. These activities include potting new plants, maintaining existing plants, sharing gardening experiences, checking on plants in residents’ rooms, walks in the garden or sharing a cuppa in the garden. This is a volunteer role that encourages socialisation and develops lasting friendships. Also, being out in the garden has many benefits for our elderly folk as it is an enjoyable form of exercise, encourages the use of all motor skills, reduces stress levels, and promotes relaxation and fun.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided and there is no expectation of heavy lifting, raking, or mowing as these tasks are completed by our onsite gardener.

Volunteering hours for this role are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday. Morning and afternoon shifts are available and flexible to suit.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
