St John Ambulance SA’s Community Care Program is a well-respected and trusted volunteer service that has supported older people in the Adelaide metropolitan area for over 30 years.

Volunteers are matched with the older person they visit to ensure the visit is mutually enjoyable, meaningful and rewarding.

The purpose of St John Ambulance SA’s Community Care Program is to strengthen people’s capacity to participate in community life, maintain or regain independence and to remain living in their own home by increasing an individual's involvement in social activities and connection to the community to help reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and decrease their feelings of loneliness. This position is ideally suited for someone who is enthusiastic and interested in working with older people.

Home visits and outings would require the volunteer to have a vehicle to visit the client and to transport them to the shops with all mileage and out of pocket expenses reimbursed.

St John provides all necessary Covid -19 protection measures for volunteers, reimbursements and arranges any background clearances required free of charge.
