Farm Animal Rescue rescues, rehabilitates and cares for abused, neglected and abandoned farm animals from Australia's food industry. We are seeking a volunteer bookkeeper who is available to help around 8 hours per week.

We provide ourselves on our efficient and focused management of our donors' contributions, and we are looking for a volunteer who will help us to maintain our very high standards of fiscal management.

A thorough knowledge of and experience with Xero is necessary. For this role we are seeking five years' experience.

Tasks include:

  • Reconciling PayPal, Stripe and day-to-day bank account transactions weekly
  • Entering payable bills into Xero and, payments in Westpac for approval
  • Enter income invoices relating to events, and match against transactions
  • Process fortnightly payroll for employees, including any non-regular payroll
  • Enter month-end journals relating to Prepayments, Accruals, Annual Leave balances, merchandise COGS, etc
  • Draft monthly financial reports for the Treasurer
  • Draft quarterly BAS returns
  • Assist Treasurer at year end with auditor requirements.

The successful applicant will work from home and be free to choose when during the week they work. You will need to have your own computer equipment, probably including a printer and scanner.
