New Year's Eve Ball - Peer Support Volunteers

Down Syndrome Queensland

DSQ New Year's Eve Ball is all about celebrating the year, enjoying time with friends (and making new ones) and encouraging our young members with Down syndrome to develop in all aspects of their life. The aim of this night has always been to ensure that the experience is as meaningful, positive, and safe as possible for everyone involved. There are a range of activities designed to ensure we enjoy the night such as dancing, food and drinks, trivia/games and who could forget the fireworks!

The Peer Support Volunteers will be assigned to a small group of 3 or 4 guests as their Group/Team Leader for the night. You will be responsible for helping the guests get ready for the night, and help to support them throughout the night.

The Peer Support Volunteer roles may best suit those applicants who may be interested in getting experience in the Community Services or Disability sector. The Peer Support Volunteer may be required to undertake the following duties: • Communication support • Behaviour support • Emotional support • Support and encouragement to allow the young person to participate in activities in any way necessary

The applicant will also need to hold (or be willing to apply for) a current Blue card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, of which our organisation can assist with if required. The applicant will also be required to attend an interview and undergo an induction session.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
