Dinner Group volunteer - Bendigo
Vision AustraliaThe volunteer will:
support clients to actively participate in the group and/or their chosen recreational activity
perform sighted guide techniques to effectively support clients, volunteers or staff to safely navigate their environment
communicate effectively with clients to understand and respond to their needs by face-to-face, email or telephone
coordinate specific programs or tasks to ensure program requirements are met and completed in a timely manner
complete data recording and other administration tasks to accurately record a service with a client (including reporting requirements) as well as report your volunteering hours
The volunteer may:
provide audio description to individuals who require visual translation during planned outings, live performances or other recreational activities to ensure clients have a detailed understanding of their surroundings and present environment
perform driving tasks to transport (pick up and drop off) clients, other volunteers, staff, or parcels and goods
ensure vehicles are left in a standard for use by other staff and volunteers
facilitate, plan, implement and deliver group activities (on a regular basis or as required) to support organisation related initiatives, programs or groups
guide or be the “discussion leader for groups/ or meetings to encourage participants to take the reign - a facilitator's job is to get others to assume responsibility and take the lead
perform hospitality duties by preparing food or refreshments and servicing individuals to ensure requirements and demands are met in a timely and polite manner
engage and consult with a broad range of stakeholders
discuss and agree on actions required to address organizational needs based on discussions with stakeholders
be required to attend meetings that assist with planning and information provision
