We are currently seeking skilled individuals who have experience in helping animals in need, to carry out various voluntary roles including the role of a Grants Manager. The Standardbred Association Qld (SAQ) is a not-for-profit association, operating throughout Queensland and staffed exclusively by volunteers.

The Role We are looking for a Grants Manager to join our team. The Grants Manager is responsible for sourcing grant funding opportunities, writing funding applications and reports and managing grant contracts that support our Association’s mission and operating goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. This vital position offers the opportunity to provide the Association sustainability and ensures continuity of the important events and services to our members and the broader community. The Grants Manager position Role Objectives:

  1.  To build monetary and community support for our Association through effort, education, and positive energy.  To participate in an important cause with a focus on promoting a positive message and securing funds to further our Association.  To increase awareness about our cause for the growth of the Association.  To develop and implement a plan that will maximise opportunities to obtain funding from philanthropic, government and corporate grant opportunities and have the potential to generate income for the Association.
     To screen and identify funding opportunities for the association’s programs according to their needs.  To proactively contribute to the achievement of targets and the ongoing financial success of the Association as a whole and to be a supportive, effective and collegiate team member.

Responsibilities include:

 Adhere to the mission, vision, and values of the Association.  Develop strategies to estimate and achieve annual income targets.  Research and scope potential philanthropic, government and corporate grant opportunities for the SAQ.  Understand the purpose and operational factors of SAQ programs and ensure applications and reports align with program priorities and capacities.  In collaboration with the Management Committee, establish the Associations funding priorities and develop grant applications to potential and current funders that correspond to these priorities and help achieve the financial goals of the Association.  Preparing and organizing materials for proposals and submitting and monitoring grant applications.  Submitting grant applications via paper or online portals, and maintain list of passwords.  Maintain an accurate database to track all Grants opportunities, closing dates and applications.  Contract management of successful grants.  Reporting and acquittals as per contractual requirements for all grants, work closely with the Treasurer on the grants liability/acquittal process.  Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submit reports to funders.  Maintaining and building relationships with funders and other strategic partners on a local, state, and national level.  Executing thank you letters and facilitate grant contracts/agreements.  Ensure acknowledgment of funders via website, e-newsletter, and social media.  Ensure that all funders are welcomed and included in all club activities.  Providing regular reporting and insights on Grants and submissions.  Other duties from time to time as required to meet the objectives of the position.

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

 Can communicate effectively and has good interpersonal skills.  Is positive, enthusiastic and creative.  Good organisation skills.  Ability to keep accurate records.  Computer literacy.  knowledge of and experience in project management desirable but not essential.  Access to internet, email, web, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent.

Relationships

  • Reports to the Associations Management Committee • Liaises with the Club Sub Committee.

Accountability

  • Accountable to the Associations Management Committee.
