Caseworker Volunteer - Client Services

About the Role

The ASRC is seeking qualified social workers, caseworkers and psychologists, to assist in our Client Services program. In this role you will complete psychosocial assessments, internal and external referrals and provide information and other support to people seeking asylum. This includes people who are experiencing mental health issues, housing challenges, family violence and involuntary repatriation.

Program: Client Services

The Client Services Program staff hold case loads of clients with medium to high needs and provide ongoing casework support. Volunteers in this program will support our casework staff to support those clients to access services such as healthcare, housing, immigration, legal, social, recreational, financial, material aid, employment, education and counselling.

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary Qualifications in (or currently in final year of studying) Social Work, Welfare Work, Youth Work, Community Development, Counselling or related fields.
  • Employment, volunteer or study placement experience with case management.
  • Experience responding appropriately to clients with high needs, challenging behaviours and/or those who present in crisis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, including familiarity with Google Workplace and Microsoft office Suite.
  • Completed 1 x student social work placement or have client facing experience working with clients with complex needs.
