Mobile Graffiti Removal Volunteer

About the Program

Our teams start working from the council operations centre (Railway Terrace at Seaford Meadows) using our fully equipped graffiti removal vehicles. Graffiti removal teams operate from Monday to Friday. We are looking for five volunteers for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, ages, genders, and abilities.

Key Tasks:

  • Effectively remove graffiti at identified sites throughout the City of Onkaparinga as authorised by the Asset Protection Officer Graffiti.
  • Operate effectively and environmentally soundly according to agreed service standards associated with graffiti removal-related activities.
  • Refill dog bag dispensers at identified locations within the council area.
  • Ensure accurate recording of daily work carried out for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure that all incidents, near misses and hazards, including threatening behaviour, are reported to a supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure that any plant and equipment is kept clean, in good working order and operationally effective and safe.
  • Ensure that all relevant Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are read, understood, and always complied with.
  • Volunteer Orientation prior to commencing your volunteering role.
  • Role-specific program induction, including specific WHS training.

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:

  • level of fitness that allows to work using arms, wrists, and hands for up to 6 hours a shift.
  • be able to work standing for long periods, and bending is involved.
  • An interest in beautifying our city.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working outdoors.
  • Driver’s licence is preferable but not essential.
  • No experience with painting is necessary.

Time Commitment

Start and finish times are around 7.15 am to 2.30 pm / 3.00 pm. Available one to two days/week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) Available up to 6 hours per day or as negotiated.

Special Requirements:

  • Role-specific program induction, including specific WHS training.

  • Attend Volunteer Welcome Day within three months of commencement.
