Food Program Volunteer - Aberfoyle Community Centre

About the Program:
This position encompasses many programs within the centre. These include - Let’s Eat (fortnightly on a Monday), Men’s Breakfast (monthly on a Wednesday), community lunches (TBA) and on occasions, school holiday programs.
Key Tasks:
- Food preparation and food handling, including storage.
- Rotation of stock.
- Packaging and/or serving food (depending on program).
- Cleaning and dishwashing.
- Participate in event/activity preparation and setting up/removal of equipment.
- Adhering to all Safe Work Procedures and report all incidents, hazards, near misses and accidents as soon as reasonably practicable
- Attend staff/volunteer team meetings
Skills & Knowledge:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enjoy cooking and food preparation.
- Can follow instructions.
- Can work to time frames.
- Ability to build rapport with community members and Centre users whilst establishing positive working relationship boundaries.
- Ability to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Ability to be reliable and flexible, with a willingness to learn and be part of a team.
- Physically capable of carrying out the required duties.
Time Commitment:
Days and times can vary according to the needs of the centre except for -
- Let’s Eat 9.30am – 3pm.
- Men’s Breakfast 7am – 9.30am.
Special Requirements:
- Role-specific program induction, including specific WHS training
- Will undergo or provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) “Not Prohibited” Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate (online – City of Onkaparinga).
- Attend Volunteer Welcome Day within three months of commencement
