Schools Spectacular Volunteer Program- Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Pk 21-25 Nov- #185444

Schools Spectacular

This iconic cultural event engages and showcases students of varying ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds; from metropolitan, rural and remote regions of NSW.

Volunteers will play an important role at the location for the Schools Spectacular by providing assistance in cast movement during the show, providing assistance to the production management team, welcoming and guiding participants and spectators around the Sydney Olympic Park Precinct and providing the public with general information.

Volunteers are required to attend a compulsory training session at Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday 21 November from 11:30am until 12:30pm. A tour of the venue will follow the training session.

Volunteers will be needed to assist in the set up and preparations for the event on Wednesday 22 November and Thursday 23 November from 9:00am until 5pm. This will include assisting with the massed rehearsals and preparations for the SPECFest outdoor festival.

The Pre-Show Entertainment Hub, SPECFest, takes place in the Qudos Bank Arena forecourt prior to each performance and offers students, teachers and the audience the chance to enjoy a festival atmosphere prior to the start of the show. The festival combines student performances, food areas and sponsor activations all in one coordinated precinct. Volunteers will also be involved in assisting with this event.

On Friday 24 November, volunteers are needed from 7:30am to 10:30pm and on Saturday 25 November 9:30am to 10:30pm. A roster allocating times and specific responsibilities, including breaks, will be put together once we confirm volunteer numbers.

Responsibilities may include:

  • assisting participants in the show and assisting the general public, as required

  • interacting with the general public during SPECFEST, as required

  • assisting with maintaining the SPECFEST festival areas particularly the food and activity areas

  • meeting/greeting and directing patrons to their seats

  • handing out Audience Participation Kits and sample bags

  • maintaining security at cast entrances to the main concourse

  • directing cast through locked security stairs for performers and staff only.

  • assisting with sponsor activations such as the teacher’s café during the show

Benefits: Unique volunteer T shirt and cap, meals, two tickets to the show, gaining skills in the event and entertainment industry, supporting public education. It is a great experience to get involved in a world class event.
