Volunteer barber/hairdresser
3rd SpaceROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a volunteer involved in the provision of services at the centre, you will: · Provide exceptional customer service to all 3rd Space visitors · Perform haircuts and trims to meet clients preferences · Work closely with the rest of the team building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders · Equipment can be provided if necessary
COMMITMENT
Ideally, you would be able to commit to a regular shift fortnightly, for a minimum of 3 months, although monthly availability is also considered. Day of service can be negotiated as per candidate availability. Sessions will need to take place during the centre operating hours: Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 2pm.
Because of the nature of the work we do at 3rd Space, a regular commitment is what is bound to benefit visitors most and represent a meaningful experience for the barber. There is flexibility for the right candidate.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE Successful candidates will: · Have relevant work experience as a barber (experience in community settings would be a plus) · Have an open mind and ability to provide service without judgement · Have an understanding of and be willing to work within trauma-informed frameworks and person-centred approaches · Demonstrate well developed inter-personal skills and the ability to get along with many different types of people · Practice self-care and have the capacity to ask for support themselves as needed · Are able to work within the parameters of the volunteer role, policies and procedures and respect professional boundaries · Be fully (double) vaccinated against Covid-19 and also comfortable around others who may or may not be vaccinated
