About the role

The Community and Events Volunteer is an integral part of the Community and Events team and is responsible for supporting people in the community in their efforts to raise funds through our events, including ASRC mass participation events: Feast for Freedom, Run 4 Refugees and World Refugee Day.

We are currently recruiting for short term opportunities in February and March 2023 supporting the ASRC’s Feast For Freedom event. The main tasks will include making welcome calls and packing welcome kits for Feast For Freedom participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with individuals and workplaces that wish to raise funds through Feast for Freedom, Run 4 Refugees and World Refugee Day
  • Connect with fundraisers by telephone, SMS, email and social media
  • Monitor and respond to event related emails
  • Pack welcome kits and post to fundraisers
  • Gather and share motivation stories
  • Create plans and draft copy for social media and website content
  • Update event reports and data with fresh contact and financial data from third party platforms
  • Liaise with the data team to maintain data in Salesforce database
  • Support planning, research, management and delivery of fundraising events
  • Where appropriate, support ad-hoc administrative and project tasks
  • Support the merchandise team with fulfilling orders during peak periods

What we’re looking for

  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good computer literacy skills, particularly Excel and Google Sheets
  • Previous experience in an administration or customer service role
  • Confidence in making phone calls
  • Strong command of English

Volunteer shifts

Shifts are available Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm.
