If you’re interested in connecting with older people who are socially isolated, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for Volunteers who are creative thinkers and committed to supporting people live their best lives. Volunteers who can support older people with their goals around staying independent, healthy and connected to their community.
You may be interested in a connection with Nicola*. She describes herself as a people person who has always been outgoing and social. She has an interest in antiques, theatre, music and all animals, especially dogs. She hopes that once her health improves she will be able to get back to her other interests including long walks, visiting the beach, reading and having a pet.
Connecting with *Nicola may involve visiting her at home, having a chat over the phone, meeting up for a coffee and/or sharing a skill. It might involve checking out what’s on offer at a local neighbourhood centre, library or an activity of interest.
We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. As a Uniting Volunteer you’ll be able to access our online learning library with over 200 courses on offer. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential. We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities.
If you are interested in more information about Volunteering in our Social Support Program, connecting to Nicola or another older person in your area, please phone 13 93 75 and quote MA-S-08. Name changed for privacy.
