1. Who is Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity established in August 2020. We are run by women of colour for women of colour. We exist to champion Australia’s women of colour through programs of education, community support initiatives, and advocacy work.

Our Vision: A world where girls and women of colour are afforded equitable opportunities to reach their full potential.

Our Purpose: To advocate, support, and strengthen the lives and experiences of Women of Colour in all places and spaces in Australia.

2. Duties The Events Committee Lead role is to oversee the Events Committee and ensure the following is accomplished:

  • Develop the annual events plan in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Deliver the events plan within budget and agreed timeframes
  • Oversee coordination of all required activities to plan and produce events
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to evaluate events delivered and embed lessons learnt
  • Encourage creativity and the development of new and exciting ideas in line with the purpose of the committee
  • Lead, develop and motivate Events Committee volunteers
  • Plan and chair the Events Committee meetings
  • Collaborate with other WoCA committees to execute events (e.g. communications and engagement, fundraising)
  • Represent the Events Committee in various organisation and public forums as required

3. Attributes

  • Experience designing, planning and executing successful events within agreed budget and timeframes
  • Strong project coordination and management skills
  • Setting, communicating and managing timelines and priorities on every event
  • Capable of building positive working relationships with WoCA staff and volunteers and community partners
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
