Located at the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre, Our Kitchen Social Enterprise hosts adult training programs for people looking to find work or make social connections. The learners and volunteers work throughout the week to make meals for the community - served at our Friday lunches or shared with food access partners.
The resources used are either grown onsite in Our Garden, or collected as part of the Second Bite program. As our Second Bite volunteer, you'll take our branded car to participating supermarkets and collect whatever is on offer for the week.
It's a pretty physical role, there's quite a bit of lifting involved, and it's definitely a two-person job. So, while only one person needs a car license, both people need to be able to move and load the goods we collect. Once you've unloaded, you can call it a day, OR, feel free to hang around and help with the preparation and serving (and eating!) of a lunch for around 100 people. We're ALWAYS grateful to have new faces join our team and like to provide a welcoming and warm environment where you'll get plenty of laughs.
