Mentor Braking the Cycle- Mareeba

Braking the Cycle is our volunteer driver mentor program designed to support learner drivers without access to a supervisor or registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours.

The aim of the program is to provide young people with increased employment opportunities, community connection and driver education. Duties will vary depending on the work area. Tasks may include: Undertake all relevant training Basic reporting on participants driving skills and areas for improvement Attend driving sessions in a timely manner Utilise program resources to provide guidance and support i.e. Safe driving practices, vehicle operational, road rules. Following direction of the local coordinator Pre and post inspection of vehicles being used Following reporting procedures for sessional use of vehicles.

This position operates within the “Braking the Cycle program” and supports disadvantaged youth to complete their 100 driver hours which will enable them to achieve their provisional licence. The Mentor acts as a role model, to create safer drivers, build confidence and resilience in the young people participating in the program. A minimum of 1 hour per week desired, with flexible times that suit you.
