Western Sydney Local Health DistrictDrive buggy (similar to golf cart) within Westmead Hospital. Buggy is based at main entry and is for the use of visitors and out-patients who cannot walk, or find it difficult to walk, to their appointment. The service assists with the patient and visitor experience.
Volunteer drivers must become familiar with hospital locations; be able to operate a buggy that does not have power steering; be able to deal with the public in a busy environment and handle occasional stressful situations.
Benefits: Volunteers become part of the overall Westmead volunteer team. On rostered days, Volunteers are provided with validated parking, a lunch voucher and are covered by insurance while on duty. A uniform is provided. Buggy drivers receive training, induction and support. In addition to regular duties, volunteers are invited to social occasions and are recognised for their service.
A national police check is conducted on the volunteer's behalf and a Working With Children Check is free for volunteers.
