Looking for a local Volunteer role where you can make a real difference? Become a Community Visitor to Peter* and share his interest in fishing and football and a love of animals! Brighton East location

Who are we?

Central Bayside Community Health Services is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to support healthy living, general wellbeing and social connection in our community. The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a government-funded program that matches a volunteer visitor with a lonely or isolated person living in an aged care facility. Volunteers make regular visits, which are purely social, and intend to develop an ongoing friendship and social connectedness.

Why become a CVS Visitor?

Whilst you will be making a positive impact to someone’s life, there are so many benefits for you! Volunteers experience greater community connection and an improved sense of wellbeing.

Whom will you visit?

Peter* is a retired tradesman who enjoyed AFL and fishing. Peter loves animals and listening to Pavarotti. Peter has experienced a loss in mobility and cognitive decline. However, a regular visitor who would be happy to listen and chat and take him for wheelchair walks would make such a positive impact on Peter’s wellbeing and quality of life. If you have a furry friend to come on visits too, even better!

What you need to know

• Our recruitment process is flexible to be completed remotely. • A minimum commitment of 12 months is required • Visits occur once a fortnight or weekly at a time that suits you and your older friend. • All volunteers must be fully vaccinated and complete a police check and training prior to commencement.
