Administration Assistant - South Coast Writers Centre
-The administrative assistant will work with the SCWC Finance and Administrative Officer to assist with the day-to-day administration of the South Coast Writers Centre and the Coledale Community Hall
- The administrative assistant will work on general admin tasks. These might include assisting with filing, data entry, spreadsheets, research, customer support, membership systems, and general enquiries.
- The Coledale Community Centre is managed by the South Coast Writers Centre. SCWC manages the hire and maintenance of Coledale Community Hall for the local community. The administrative assistant will:
- Assist with answering requests from people interested in hiring the hall, make bookings and meet new hirers to show the hall,
- Manage and monitor the onsite hall storage areas for chairs and tables, kitchen and contents,
- Assist SCWC Finance and Administrative Officer to maintain the hall’s equipment and maintenance register, get quotes for repairs, make appointments for tradespeople, and schedule regular maintenance for hall and equipment.
We are registered with Centrelink as a not-for-profit organisation and we would particularly welcome volunteers over 55 wishing to establish an ongoing relationship with us to meet their mutual obligation requirements.

- This is a voluntary position with a minimum twelve-month commitment and meets Centrelink's approved voluntary work requirements (mutual obligations).
The South Coast Writers Centre supports the creation and enjoyment of Australian literature through the provision of creative and professional development, literary events and audience growth across the New South Wales South Coast. With offices based in Wollongong, the Centre aims to promote regional writers and writing in Australia while fostering creative and professional development for South Coast writers. The development of existing and new audiences for writers and writing is strongly supported, and the distinct literary cultures of the South Coast are valued and sustained. The Centre always strives for the inclusion of South Coast writers in Australian literary culture and ultimately endeavours to maintain social inclusion, access, equity and the participation of members in all aspects of the Centre.
