Volunteer Adult Leader - PCYC Emergency Services Cadets - Bowen
PCYC Qld (Qpcywa-Police Citizens Youth Club)The aim of the program is to provide young people with a safe, fun and inclusive environment that offers them practical life skills and leadership opportunities. Cadets are provided with a uniform and participation is free, we just ask Cadets to supply their own black boots. The program runs concurrently with the school year and a Cadet Unit will usually meet once a week during the school term. Currently there are 24 Unit locations operating in Queensland.
Cadets are encouraged to consider a career in the Emergency Services, either in a paid or volunteer capacity.
Adult Leaders do not need to have an Emergency Services background to volunteer their time with a Cadet Unit. Adult Leaders must strive to create a positive, safe and supportive environment for Cadets, other Adult Leaders and relevant stakeholders.
The key responsibilities are:
1) Maintain positive relationships with Adult Leaders, Cadets, parents, visitors and program staff 2) Assist with fostering a positive working relationship with sponsoring Emergency Services and all supporting Emergency Services within the local region 3) Assist with day-to-day management of the Cadet Unit 4) Maintain high standards of safety 5) Attend weekly Cadet training nights
