Overview

Out for Australia’s events are a core pillar of our offering. Our events showcase LGBTQIA+ role models, share thought leadership, and provide a space for our community to connect.

The Director of Events Management is responsible for the strategic oversight of event and event processes, supporting our Event Coordinators who are in-turn responsible for the hands-on running of events in their State or Territory.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience or interest in organising, managing or running events, to transition into a more strategic events management role.

Responsibilities

Strategic oversight over the National Events Portfolio (40%)

  • You will provide strong leadership to the Events Team to ensure coordinated delivery of events, strong support for event volunteers, and accessible resources.
  • You will develop, own and implement a national events strategy, monitoring progress against KPIs set out in our operational plan and addressing any gaps.
  • In a process of continual learning and improvement, you will be guided by the question, “How can we make our events the best that they can be?”

Management of event processes and procedures (30%)

  • You will have ownership over and responsibility for processes and procedures that give our events volunteers guidance on how to organise and run successful events, together with other team resources such as the events calendar.
  • You will actively research and consider ways to improve our events processes, including by consulting with events volunteers and others on ways to improve how we get things done internally.

Management of event support function (20%)

  • You will be responsible for a small team of volunteers dedicated to providing support, including tech support, to event volunteers across the nation.
  • You will respond to internal requests for assistance in event management and planning, including trouble-shooting and problem solving, as required.

General volunteer expectations (10%)

  • Undertake an OFA volunteer induction and role onboarding.
  • Understand and implement OFA’s strategy, vision and mission.
  • Uphold our volunteer code of conduct.
  • Assist with initiatives as required.
