The Salvation Army Doorways program provides support to clients in urgent crisis. Assistance provided includes food vouchers, food parcels, budgeting assistance, NILS (interest-free loans) or help with paying bills. Clients are engaged Intensive ER, Casework or referred to Financial Counselling and other services where deeper issues are present.

The volunteer Meet & Greet Assistant role provides client friendly services including welcoming clients, responding to telephone calls, interpreting and catering to the initial welfare and needs of the clients and performing general administration duties consistent with a reception environment. Safety and well-being of self and others is vital and there is a requirement to identify and report hazards and incidents.

As part of the Meet & Greet role you will welcome visitors, directing them to the waiting areas, amenities and informing relevant staff. You will also identify each client’s purpose of their visit, assisting clients with completing application forms, providing clients with refreshments and ensure the foyer is left clean and tidy at the end of the day.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements For The Role

Customer service experience would be beneficial, but not essential as on the job training and induction are provided for the right candidates

Mandatory Requirements Of The Role

  • Fully complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration process
  • Working with Childrens Check/WWCC
  • Complete TSA mandatory training and induction modules and any other training as required

Roster & Time Commitment

  • This is part-time volunteer role at The Salvation Army Doorways located at Devonport Corps, TAS. Shifts are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
