Currumbin Sanctuary Wildlife Keeper Assistant

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary - National Trust Australia (Qld)

The Wildlife Keeper Assistant core daily tasks include: preparing food, assisting with feeding, washing up, cleaning, raking, sweeping, hosing, and refurbishing the animal enclosures. This is a physically demanding role with lots of walking and cleaning of enclosures and associated grounds. The volunteer should have a high level of physical fitness in order to be able to undertake this role. The volunteer must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be on their feet for 8 hours. The applicant should have previous experience caring for and working with animals. The rounds that the volunteer can work on include: 3x Mammals, 2x Birds, Reptiles, Lost Valley Precinct, Presentations and animal training Department, Wildlife Experiences and Koalas and education department. Please note, the reptile round and education dept are only open to current volunteers with 6 months experience. If you are a good match for the role, arrangements will be made for you to attend four trial shifts with the Wildlife team, so you can find out about the role first hand and also be assessed on your suitability. Placements within any Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer program are limited and no guarantee of acceptance will be given. Thank you for understanding that in order to protect both our animals and Sanctuary operations, only people who meet the selection criteria and program requirements can be accepted into the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer programs. : Volunteer Days available: Monday - Sunday 6.30am – 4.00pm (Preferably Weekend availability) 8 hour shifts with some shorter shifts available.
