Peer Support Volunteer

Life's Little Treasures
Logo for Life's Little Treasures

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Life's Little Treasures.

Peer Support Volunteers are an integral part of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Connections Peer Support Groups. Volunteers are those with lived experience of having a premature or unwell baby who are willing to share their experience, provide a listening ear, and words of encouragement and support to others. Peer Support Volunteers are not counsellors, or medical professionals, but rather parents sharing their experience with other parents. Being able to speak with others who know what you are going through is invaluable, and the unique perspective and support our volunteers provide parents in our NICU Connections groups has a lasting impact.

The online Peer Support Groups operate within a closed Facebook group. Volunteers and participants write to each other through a live texting session.
