Childhood Cancer Support is an accommodation and support provider for regional children who are battling cancer and their families.

We have our own 8-seater van to provide complimentary transport services for our families. We are seeking volunteer drivers, with an impeccable driving record, to support our families. We offer several transport runs per day, Monday-Friday, from 7:15am to 2:30pm. We require our drivers to commit to a 5 hour shift each shift. We are flexible on how often you can volunteer - which may be for one shift per week, per fortnight or per month. Or you may be able to volunteer a shift on a more regular basis. We are happy to talk with you on your availability.

Tasks include:

• Transporting our families to and from our accommodation facilities at Herston, South Brisbane and East Brisbane to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane for their oncology treatment.
• Picking up families from Brisbane Airport when they arrive and taking them back to the airport when it is time to go home.
• Transporting families to shopping centres to buy their groceries, or to other appointments as necessary.
• Ensuring the van is sanitised internally at the beginning of each shift to ensure hygiene at all times.
• Ensuring the van is kept clean on the outside.
• Filling up the van with fuel when necessary (a company fuel card is used at all times).
• Ensuring that child restraints are applied correctly and safely for all children.

Volunteers will need a clean C Class driver's licence, a Working With Children Check (Blue Card) - we can assist with free online application for a Blue Card. In addition, all volunteers need to complete an online child safety module as a team member of our organisation. This is also free of charge.

Our volunteers are supported, respected and experience tasks they find rewarding to achieve positive outcomes for our families. There will be no out of pocket expenses necessary for our volunteers.
