About the role

The Reception at Refugee Resource Hub - Dandenong will provide a busy and varied environment. Our reception is the first point of contact for clients and the public, and our Reception Volunteers offer a safe, professional and inviting environment to make our centre a warm community space for people seeking asylum. Reception plays a large role in welcoming clients and ensuring safety and trust, and as such you will display the values of compassion, empathy and support through your actions and words.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet all those who enter the centre in a warm and welcoming manner
  • Dealing with face to face enquiries and directing people within the centre
  • Answering and directing phone and email inquiries
  • Communicating between members and programs
  • Managing the sign in process for members and volunteers
  • General administration duties as directed by program manager
  • Communicating with program manager and referring issues outside your training or role to relevant staff

What we're looking for Essential

  • Excellent customer service skills – with previous experience in a similar role advantageous
  • Basic computer skills
  • A friendly and patient disposition
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Experience responding appropriately to clients with high needs, challenging behaviours and/or those who present in crisis

Desirable

  • Previous experience in social work or case management

Shifts We are looking for a commitment of 1 shift per week. Shifts are available Monday – Friday, 10.00am – 5pm - flexible.
