Court Support Volunteer- Blacktown Court

Mission Australia (Surry Hills)
Logo for Mission Australia (Surry Hills)

If you are interested in supporting victims of crime, and looking for a challenging yet highly rewarding and meaningful role, please contact us. We are seeking people with high-level communication, listening and empathy skills, with a non-judgemental and professional manner. You need to be committed, reliable, flexible, and self-motivated. Much of our work is around sexual assault and family and domestic violence but not limited to these, and with people from diverse backgrounds. We are seeking people ideally able to commit to one day per week at Blacktown Local Court, which may suit people who are retired, semi-retired, or working part time. Experience with the justice system, counselling or working with vulnerable individuals would be an advantage but not a requirement as volunteers will be fully trained. You will join a friendly and supportive team, and will receive regular training opportunities, supervision and debriefing. Applications from culturally diverse and ATSI backgrounds are encouraged. A National Police History Check and a Working with Children Check clearance are required. If you are successful, Mission Australia will also require proof of COVID vaccination. To apply for this opportunity, please email your resume and an expression of interest to courtsupport@missionaustralia.com.au.
