Volunteer to change lives. Yours included. A range of volunteer opportunities are available to support staff, patients and visitors at St Stephen's Private Hospital.

St Stephen's Hospital, located in Urraween is a fully digital facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient surgical and medical services as well as day surgery and oncology in its 96-bed facility.

Location: 1 Medical Place, Urraween, Qld 4655

Our volunteer team of around 35 come from varied backgrounds, with many life experiences and skills and are valued by our staff, patients and visitors for their dedication and commitment.

Positions available in our volunteer team include:

Day Surgery Support volunteers provide refreshments to our patients post-operatively
Oncology Support volunteers provide refreshments during treatment Ward Support volunteers spend time one-on-one with patients. ▪ Reception support volunteers providing information and directions to patients and visitors to the hospital ▪ Kitchen volunteers assist staff with packaging cutlery, and portioning food and beverages ▪ Gardening volunteers assist with general gardening tasks ▪ Drivers transport patients to and from Hervey Bay

This is a great opportunity to: ▪ Experience the joy of making a meaningful difference, ▪ To meet mutual obligations, student placement hours or other requirements, ▪ Enjoy social interaction with others

Times: Shifts are generally negotiable between 7:30 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays

Time Commitment: Minimum time commitment of 3-4 hours weekly

Requirements: ▪️ Excellent communication skills and a friendly supportive manner ▪️ Outgoing personality, approachable and proactive ▪️ Demonstrated ability to be a team player. ▪️ An understanding of, and commitment to, confidentiality and respect for patient privacy. ▪️ A willingness to complete any required training. ▪️ Driver's license where applicable. ▪ Blue Card for working with children
