Inspect electrical items:
- At the start of the shift, check work area ensuring the area is free from hazards that may interfere with testing and tagging
- Visually inspect appliances for damage as per training and set out in AS/NZS 3760
- Ensure that equipment has not been recalled, is validated for use in Australia and fitted with plug complying with AS/NZS 3112
- Ensure item is switched off or “powered down” prior to testing
Test and tag electrical items :
- Safely test electrical items using a Portable Appliance Tester
- Attach a durable test tag to item with the test date, surname of person performing test, status of test, reference to AS/NZS 3760 and next test/inspection date
- When re-inspecting, testing and tagging equipment old tags are removed and replaced with new tag, containing the current details ·
- Records results of testing
- Items that fail testing are to be repaired by a competent person or removed from service until it can be repaired
- Ensure items that are unable to be repaired are labelled accordingly (“out of service”) or rendered unusable
- Repaired items must be retested and retagged
- Regularly monitor store stock and ensure all items are inspected, tested and tagged as per TSA WHS Safety Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Procedure
Maintain a safe and healthy environment :
- Operate in a safe manner at all times and instruct all team members including TSA employees and visiting contractors, follow WHS policies and procedures
- Monitor and remove waste on the work floor area at all times
- Participate in maintaining staff amenity areas are kept clear of hazards, and are clean and tidy
- Immediately report any health and safety concerns, notifiable incidents and near misses, to Team Leader and ensure any hazards are controlled until rectified
- Ensure hazard, incident and accident form is completed when required
Qualifications and Experience Requirements for the Role:
- Test and Tag qualifications from a Registered Training Organisation or
- Have an electrical or restricted electrical licence
