Volunteer at The Patch Community Garden

Centre for Participation
Logo for Centre for Participation

This volunteer role helps The Patch provide fresh, organic produce to the community through the Salvation Army community lunch, thrift shop and through monthly produce swaps.

Within this role, volunteers assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of The Patch. Duties will include planting, harvesting fruit and vegetables, weeding, maintaining equipment and the building of new beds and infrastructure.

Volunteer hours are ongoing and flexible. The amount of time spent volunteering is up to the individual.

Volunteers are not expected to spend money on equipment. If purchases are made out of necessity, volunteers will be reimbursed.

The patch encourages school groups to visit and become involved with the garden. Volunteers will be required to have working with children checks to be able to volunteer while schools are on site.

Volunteers will be inducted onto the site. Training can be provided if necessary.

The Patch welcomes all abilities and is wheelchair and mobility-impaired friendly. They welcome those from culturally diverse backgrounds and encourage those learning English to come and practice with a range of volunteers.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
