Leading Youth ForwardABOUT LYF Now in its 11th year of operation, Leading Youth Forward (LYF) is a completely volunteer-run organisation which provides a structured mentoring and development program to around 80 at-risk Perth teens in years 7 to 10. Teens are carefully matched with a mentor typically aged between 22 - 39, who provides one-on-one support and encouragement to build confidence, nurture personal growth and positively influence their teen at a critical stage in their life. We run five teen events a year, including one weekend-long camp and four ‘Big Days Out’.
ABOUT THE ROLE The Training and Development Manager is responsible for creating and delivering volunteer training, designing development activities for our teens, connecting with like-minded community organisations, and reporting on outcomes on a regular basis.
Key duties • Plan, organise and deliver the annual volunteer training • Connect with like-minded organisations to set up development activities for our teens • Create the LYF journal and other development activities for rotations at LYF events • Assist with planning of Big Day Outs, including sourcing development options • Collate, analyse, and report on data from LYF surveys, as well as direct and advise on how LYF should measure its program • Research strategies and organisations that contribute to our goals, as well as training materials and information to support our mentors • Write and manage behaviour contracts for mentors and teens • Update and maintain the Mentor Handbook and Code of Conduct • Run journal activities at LYF events • Liaise with community partners and the LYF Advisory Panel • Attend monthly committee meetings

This role is perfect for you if you… • Don’t have a teen in the LYF Program • Have a genuine will to make a difference to the lives of at-risk youth • Enjoy facilitating and public speaking • Know your way around Google Forms and excel • Can think outside the box and have some creative ideas on where to take the role • Enjoy goal setting and self-improvement • Want to help train our mentors to be able to undertake their role confidently • Have a background or interest in training and development, youth work, psychology, or a related field.
