Job Description Summary

The Regional Support Vehicle Assistant assists The Salvation Army’s Regional Support Vehicle while travelling throughout specific locations within the Glenelg Shire. The team member reports directly to the site supervisor and helps with various tasks throughout the day. This includes helping with set up & pack up, monitoring the clothing exchange, guiding community members throughout the vehicle, assisting community members with accessing appointments and services, and providing general assistance where needed.

Transport Services

Assist in the set up and pack up of vehicle including loading and unloading of goods

Other duties as required

Operate in a manner that promotes effective teamwork and good relationships with volunteers and members of the community

Be prompt, courteous and respectful when interacting with others

Ensure vehicle is left clean and tidy after each shift

Assisting team leader with other tasks as directed.

Confidentiality of information is maintained.

Clothing Exchange

Assist with handling of donations including receiving, checking, sorting, packing, and storage of donated goods.

Assist with transactions of goods and required record keeping

Conduct stock take of goods as required.

Replacing items when needed.

Ensure that all display areas are neat, tidy and free of clutter.

Reception/ Administration

Monitor booking calendar for appointments for each service provided

Greet community members for their appointments and offer refreshments while they wait

Assist with any paperwork required for their appointment

Keep track of visitors/total engagements for the day and report as directed

Provide Quality Customer Service

Exhibiting professional image of the office environment, displaying professionalism and integrity at all times.

Provide accurate information.

Refer people to appropriate Salvation Army services. Follow up with Manager if unsure.

Listen carefully, and acknowledge and refer concerns, issues or queries to Manager.

Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment

Immediately report any health and safety concerns, notifiable incidents and near misses, to Senior Team Leader and ensure any hazards are controlled until rectified.

Ensure hazard, incident and accident form is completed when required in a timely manner.

All volunteers are to be mindful of their own health and to take care of the health and safety of others.

Volunteers are required to comply with all TSA work, health and safety policies and procedures as applicable to their workplace.

Required For The Position

Complete The Salvation Army (TSA) Mission Volunteer registration, induction and training - TSA is a ChildSafe workplace.

Integrity checks and a valid Working with Children Check are required for the role.

Identifies and follows safe work practices to perform all duties in a safe manner, ensuring the safety and well-being of self and others.

Good communication skills.
