Veteran Wellbeing Team

Veterans of Australia

Veterans of Australia is a Hervey Bay based Ex-Service Organisation who provides advocacy and welfare support to Veterans and their families.

We also manage a Drop-In Centre at Freedom Park, Pialba where Veterans can come between 9 and 1230, Monday to Friday for a coffee and a chat.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

There are many different roles that are required for the Wellbeing Team. We are looking for Wellbeing Advocates and Wellbeing Support Officers to join our team at Veterans of Australia.

WELLBEING ADVOCATES:

The duties of an ESO Wellbeing Advocate require a wide range of skills. Such people must be able to: • understand the military rehabilitation and compensation system; • understand the rights and responsibilities of a Wellbeing Advocate; • assist veterans, Defence and ex-Defence members and their dependents in their dealings with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and any other agency as required; • understand and interpret relevant laws and regulations; and • liaise with the member and any others who may assist in the member’s needs for Wellbeing Support.

WELLBEING SUPPORT OFFICERS

Wellbeing Support Officers (WSO) provide services such as:

  • visits to home, hospital and aged care facilities;
  • simple services such as driving, shopping trips etc.
  • assisting with administrative duties in a non-paid position
  • organizing and conducting social and family events;
  • provide support to a veteran's family during time of grief, loss and bereavement.
