Uniting Social Support Program keeps people connected to the community to support them to live a happy and healthy life. The program assists people to keep doing the things they love. Wendy describes herself quirky, engaging and social. Wendy enjoys passing the time using her Ipad, chatting to friends, listening to the radio and watching English TV shows.

Uniting is seeking a friendly, honest and patient volunteer who is a good conversationalist and listener to support Wendy to reconnect with her community. The selected applicant will have effective communication skills and an ability to creatively reconnect Wendy to her interests including knitting and sewing. An affinity for dogs is essential. Visits may include visiting Wendy at her home to provide company and conversation or venturing out for a light walk. You will hold a valid Australian driver’s license and have access to a car that you will be prepared to transport Wendy in during visits. Practical communication skills and confidence to work independently are a must.

As a valued member of the Social Support Team, you will have access to ongoing training and development, opportunities to meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator who will assist you throughout your volunteer journey. You will be volunteering to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice to make an impact in your community.

Interested? For further information, please contact 13 93 75 and quote SY-W-05.

Please note that visits will take place in line with Uniting and COVID-19 safe guidelines. *Name changed for privacy
