Logo for Australian Multi-Cultural Communities United Limited

Every-one in Australia is a migrant or a descendant of a migrant. Even our first peoples migrated here. And no matter how short or deep our roots are, most of us had to work hard to survive, find a job, put a roof over our head and feed our family. Times may have changed, but the challenges remain the same. Do you agree that even today newcomers are not easily accepted by existing communities, that ignorance, arrogance and racism still exist and that migrants have to work harder, be smarter and much more determined to get a job and prove themselves?

AMCCU (Australian Multi-Cultural Community United Ltd) is supporting the social and economic integration of migrants, fostering reconciliation, acceptance and co-operation between the different races, ethnic and religious groups and bond them into one Australian community. And we also celebrate the enriching multi-cultural diversity of our beautiful food, film, music, dance, fashion, art & craft that makes this community so unique.

Being the new kid on the block ourselves, we intend doing all of this a bit different to traditional charities. We don’t door-knock anymore, but build cloud-based service platforms and online communication networks with passionate volunteer teams. We even have our own TV Production Team. However, no team can excel just by itself. It needs support.

That’s where you will come in.

You and other members of the Community Engagement Team will build a deep relationship with every Consul General of every nation presented in Australia. We then will assist them to promote their culture, food, music & art. You and your team will identify the needs of their local communities and then develop projects, strategies and programs that will assist those (such as fund-raising, digital & social media marketing, product, service or events promotion, and more).

If you like to assist communities to survive and thrive in our new economy, if this fulfills your passion, you will find with us the opportunity to make a lasting difference.

What do you need to bring to the team?

Any and all of the skills, knowledge and work experience you have gathered in working with ethnic or migrant communities, community development, stakeholder relationships or business coaching.

Important: This is not a role for someone that seeks job experience, but one that has such. What we like to see is someone that understands the struggle of communities, possesses creative thinking & problem-solving skills and who really cares, listens, and is able to guide/influence even those that are stuck in the past into the right direction. Besides these skills, just bring in Yourself.

You would work from where-ever you want and whenever you want. Your time commitment will be at least 5 hours per week.

The impact of your work will be far reaching. By building relationships, listening and solving problems, you will enable a lot of communities to better their situation. And the more communities we can empower the higher our chance of making Australia the world's most inclusive society!

So if you have the passion and the desire to create a meaningful legacy, then express your interest and tell us a bit about you.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
