Expected Outcomes Assist Driver

Ensure the safety of self, other passengers while participating in both collections and pickups from the community. Operate in a manner that promotes and maintains the reputation and profile of TSA Support the recording of each journey in vehicle log book Public interactions, including when driving, are always positive and courteous Ensure journeys are timely and efficient and undertaken as agreed with Family Store Manager Ensure vehicle log book is always and correctly filled in Wear requested uniform and Identification Badge at all times when undertaking TSA duties

Vehicle care

Ensure van is safe to drive by checking tyres and visibility Clear vehicle’s interior of any rubbish after each shift Ensure vehicle is refuelled Support the Vehicle to be clean and tidy Van is inspected and any actions required are escalated to manager Participation and support

Attend training as required Attend regular team meetings Support celebrating volunteer milestones (years of service) and special occasions such as birthdays Attend any monthly meetings with Store Manager to address operational matters, including WHS, resolving issues and reviewing driving policies and procedures

Maintain a safe and healthy environment

Operate in a safe manner at all times and insist all team members including TSA employees and visiting contractors, follow WHS policies and procedures Monitor customer safety at all times particularly when the truck/van is manoeuvred, or items are loaded and unloaded. Complete all WHS training and complete refresher training every 3 years All accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses are reported to Store Manager according to procedures Obtain advice from Store Manager if involved in a vehicle incident Report any potential health and safety concerns to Family Store Manager Demonstrate a clear understanding of WHS policies – specifically in regard to lifting and moving

Qualifications and experience requirements for the Role

Excellent time management skills Previous experience working with community members in a comparable setting is preferred Demonstrate empathy toward community members

Mandatory requirements of the Role

Fully complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration process Current Criminal History Check (Police check) required Complete TSA induction modules and any other training as required

Roster & time commitment 4-6 hours per day 1-2 days per week flexible for ongoing period
