Homework Club Volunteers

We have an opportunity in Armidale to volunteer assisting on our Homework Club program.

The Role

• Assist students to complete homework tasks, including reading and writing activities • Model and encourage appropriate behavioural standards and building positive relationships with students • Assist in the set up and packing up of materials. • Add ideas and experience to the homework club program • Build capacity to lead volunteer programs

As a youth member, you will obtain a greater understanding of the disadvantage in your local community with a supportive team that can help you make a difference. Experience a sense of belonging, community and personal achievement, knowing that you have helped those who need it most.

Within this role you could expect 1.5hrs per week. We can be flexible on availability.

The Youth Members and volunteers we are seeking will ideally be:

  • Willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW;
  • Respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team;
  • Compassionate with a non-judgemental attitude;
  • Reliable, punctual and a good time manager, with a can-do attitude;
  • Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive; and
  • Have a genuine desire to serve those in need.

No experience needed as in-house coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous experience and from various backgrounds to share their experience with their fellow Youth Members.
