The volunteer Maintenance and Garden Team Member provides operational support through maintaining the property and gardens to a standard which will provide a positive and welcoming experience for clients, workers and visitors and to develop and update facilities under direction of the site Manger to create a safe, tidy and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Key Tasks and Expectations

Maintenance Activities

Undertake general maintenance activities to a standard that will provide a welcoming experience for staff, clients and visitors Weeding, mulching and watering lawns and gardens as required Mowing of lawns, pruning, shaping, fertilizing, and replanting of gardens Facilitate small repairs to property, buildings and fixtures as directed by the site manger Co-ordinate professional trades to complete works as approved and directed by the site manager Organise and oversee the electrical testing and tagging (up-to-date and appropriate qualifications required) Assisting site manager/Supervisor with other tasks as directed Ensure the buildings are maintained in a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing manner Exhibiting professional image of the Salvation Army. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Actively use PPE at all times when completing activities. Monitor condition of PPE and address issues with equipment with the manager Understand appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment. Maintaining Equipment

Monitor condition of equipment and address issues with equipment with the manager Ensure equipment is safe to use and working correctly Ensure calendar of electrical testing and tagging by professional services is carried out when required by OH&S Safe use of hands tools and mechanical equipment. Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment

Immediately report any health and safety concerns, notifiable incidents and near misses, to the site manager and ensure any hazards are controlled until rectified Ensure hazard, incident and accident form is completed when required in a timely manner All volunteers are to be mindful of their own health and to take care of the health and safety of others Volunteers are required to comply with all TSA work, health and safety policies and procedures as applicable to their workplace. Qualifications and Experience Requirements for the Position Experience in a similar role highly regarded.
