When you volunteer for Scribblers Festival, you will have the opportunity to help us with the following positions.

USHER

  • Work with Front of House Venue Staff to get patrons in and out of the venues safely
  • Communicate with Festival and Venue Staff to ensure all schools, members of the public and artists reach the correct venues
  • Willingness to work with school groups, fellow staff and volunteers, and artists depending on Festival requirements
  • Willingness to stand and walk between venues for long periods of time

ARTIST LIAISON

  • Usher Artists between Greenroom, Book Signings and Venues depending on Festival requirements
  • Communicate and work with FOH and Greenroom Staff
  • Have a good understanding of the Festival Site and map
  • Willingness to stand and walk between venues for long periods of time

TRANSPORT LIAISON (WEEKDAYS ONLY)

  • Responsible for assisting with Transport arrivals and departures
  • Provide directions to school groups to and from the Festival site
  • Ensure all patrons are safe and away from the roadside
  • Communicate with Festival staff and fellow volunteers
  • Willingness to stand and walk between venues for long periods of time

REGISTRATION DESK (WEEKDAYS ONLY)

  • Responsible for checking in school groups and ensuring their ticket reflects the number of staff/students in attendance. Less patrons than ticketed is no problem, more patrons in attendance need to be noted and communicated with Venue Staff to confirm our ability to seat those students
  • Ensuring each school group is directed to the correct Venue
  • Ensure Registration Desk and Files are organized and packed up after each morning
  • Communicate with Festival staff and fellow volunteers
  • Willingness to fill another role when this role isn’t operational

INFORMATION POINT (WEEKEND ONLY)

  • Provide general information about the Festival to the public and assist with general inquiries
  • Direct Patrons around Festival site as required
  • Act as main contact point for Lost Children
  • Communicate with Festival staff, fellow volunteers and general public
  • Willingness to stand and walk between venues for long periods of time

WORKSHOP ASSISTANCE (WEEKEND ONLY )

  • Assist with set-up, re-set and pack-down of the workshop space
  • Assist with workshop registration to ensure all attendees have arrived and are in the correct venue
  • Assist Artists during workshop if required
  • Communicate with Festival staff and fellow volunteers to ensure workshop is correctly set up and have all required materials
  • Communicate with parents/guardians to ensure children are dropped off and picked up at the correct times pre/post workshop
  • Willingness to stand and walk between venues for long periods of time
